User-Management Cockpit plus+ : Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) and Basel II
At the latest since the Sarbanes-
Oxley Act (SOX) entered legal force
on July 30th 2002, legal requirements,
corporate governance and
compliance have become increasingly
important issues.This United States
Act is a fundamental piece of
legislation governing all American
companies quoted on the US stock
exchange, as well as their European
subsidiaries and other globally active
companies not based in the US.
The
Act was passed in response to
financial scandals such as Enron and
Worldcom, and its aim was to restore
investor confidence in the accuracy
of the financial data disclosed by
companies. Similar regulations – both national
and cross-border – are also being
sought in Europe. Again, the aim of
such regulations would be to
improve IT security, specifically with
regard to computer-aided commercial
business processes and focussing
particularly on accounting.
User-Management Cockpit plus+ : the solution
Numerous specific steps and evaluations are necessary to meet the requirements of audit offices in respect of user and authorisation administration. And this is precisely where the performance capability of our User-Management Cockpit software solution – developed in-house by LM Partners AG – comes into play.
The solution is based on a central cockpit anchored in the productive system, with an integrated authorisation table in which all users, systems and roles or profiles are stored and maintained in a matrix. Using the cockpit and the authorisation concept table, all authorisations are controlled, administered, analysed and evaluated in a cross-system manner.
Thanks to a range of reconciliation and control functions, one can be sure that the authorisation concept table is always up to date, and includes the current user masters, roles and profiles contained in the system.
The integrated test routines ensure that only those individuals assigned the appropriate rights can use the system. In addition, extensive reports can be prepared with just a few clicks; these can be signed by hand and submitted to the auditing office.
